Hey there! 

I'm Justin, the creator of this course. Laser isn't my real last name but I've considered legal options (don't tell my wife 🤫).

I've been working in the laser engraving world for the past 12+ years and have been running my own one-man laser business since the summer of 2015. In addition to running my business I also make all types of laser related videos on my Youtube Channel for my nearly 50,000 subscribers.

 Laser engraving combines my three biggest passions—design, technology, and business—and I try to bring a bit of each into every lesson I teach.

COURSE PREREQUISITES

Before you dive in... 

  • You need to have a fiber laser that is Lightburn compatible. Sadly not all of them are. That means it comes with something called an EZCAD2 driver. Most retailers are very clear these days whether or not the laser is Lightburn compatible so that shouldnt be an issue. But if youre still shopping around - please double check.

  •  You've already downloaded and installed Lightburn, which is a paid software. To operate the type of fiber laser we'll be using, you'll need the Lightburn Pro license. However, I strongly recommend starting with the free trial version first to ensure your laser connects and operates correctly before purchasing.
  • You've added your fiber laser as a new device in Lightburn. This process can vary depending on laser manufacturer so please follow their instructions. Also, please install the corresponding Configuration file if provided. Its called a mark7cfg file and would usually be provided to you on a little USB stick that comes with your laser. That file tells Lightburn how to setup and process the settings for your particular laser. If you have any issues here please contact the manufacturers support team.
